our story

Travis & Jenna met in the summer of 2016 by chance. They were both in the same place, at the same time and a good friend introduced them. Then by happenstance they would see each other more and more out at social gatherings. Finally, in late July, they spent more than a passing glance together at a Steamboat free concert where they sat on the lawn at Howelsen Hill listening to the music and talking about their budding photography businesses. Travis immediately hired Jenna to help him second shoot a wedding that fall. From there the love story begins with which it has no ending - they have been inseparable ever since and plan to never be apart. Garner&Co was born when shooting with one another was better than alone. This is a team born out of love of each other and photography. They also have a sweet doggie named Corley "Tooter" Bean that might make an appearance at your photoshoot!

Travis was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico where his love of film photography started. His grandmother would let him borrow her old film camera and he would fall in love with the desert sunsets that danced across the evening sky. He decided at a young age that photography would be a part of his career for the rest of his life. He attended the University of Western Kentucky where he would study photojournalism. This program helped fine tune Travis's skills as a story teller. He also is an expert in professional lighting technology. Travis is also an avid fisherman and guides fishing trips in the beautiful Steamboat Springs. His heart is always full of joy being able to do what he loves on the water or with his camera.

"I am most likely biased but Travis is one of the best photographers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He truly knows how to run the show on shoot and keeps the timeline moving with no awkward moments. My favorite thing to do after a session is pick up his camera and look through all of the images. His work inspires me to be a better artist. "

Born and raised in Georgia, Jenna always wanted to be a lawyer. She started her career at the University of South Carolina in the pre-law program. As everyone knows, when you go away to school, your entire perspective of life changes. As she grew into her own she discovered photography. It started as a hobby and grew into a passion.

In the Fall of 2009, Jenna’s Mother was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s – she was 56 years old. The news devastated her family.

“Getting that news was the worst day of my life. I remember sitting on the side of the highway in South Georgia not knowing what to do. I was on the way to see her and I wasn’t sure how I was going to look at her knowing I would have to let her go sooner rather than later. Alzheimer’s is the disease of 1000 goodbyes, you must face the fact that she will forget you, she will not recognize your face any longer and ultimately leave this earth before you are ready. I thank my lucky stars for my family support – I have 3 beautiful siblings from my Mother and we were in it together.”

As Jenna blazed a path into this uncharted territory she realized how important photography is. Why getting together with friends and family to capture special life moments is incredibly thoughtful for those in the next generation. A defining moment came to Jenna when she and her sisters were going through an old desk belonging to their mother. After prying a few drawers open – they found hundreds of photographs. Baby photos of them, photos of her when she was young, wedding photos, first steps, first everything…their Mother had been saving these. As they looked through every single photo, it occurred to Jenna how important this moment was and how she felt the need to share her gift with the world.

“We laughed and cried looking through all of these old prints. I can still remember how they smelled coming out of the drawers. I actually took photos of us looking through them. I hold that moment so close to my heart because I want everyone in the world to experience the joy I had looking through the old memories. Memories fade quickly but when you can hold a photo in your hand and share it down through your family generations – that is truly special”

Jenna lost her Mother, Janice, to ALZ in March of 2014. She decided to head west to Steamboat on a sabbatical and ended up staying. She has loved this town and the magic here ever since.

If you or a loved one is dealing with the stress of ALZ, I would be happy to talk to you – grab a coffee or something stronger
